Potential Utilization of Sugarcane Bagasse as Raw Material for Bioethanol Production

Abstract Bagasse has the potential to generate alternative energy resources such as bioethanol owing its lignocellulose structure. This research aims for utilizing bagasse raw material producing bioethanol. The process consists of delignification, hydrolysis, fermentation and distillation using biocatalyst namely Fungi Dekkera bruxellensis yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae . Delignification was conducted at substrate variation 5, 10, 15 grams 3, 7 days contact time. hydrolysis used H 2 SO 4 2% with 30, 45, 60 minutes Fermentation concentration ratio fungi 1:1 went through temperature 78-80°C obtain ethanol. gravimetric analysis shows optimum removal efficiency 10.90% 5 gram substrates 3 highest glucose 16.64 g/L each time 2%. amount ethanol 3.1% that can produce by utilization
